What does GOLD & BLUE mean on my players team name...

Beginning at U13 we begin to emphasize the assigning of players into two groups relative to their peers. We describe these groups as "competitive" or GOLD and "developing" or BLUE. Prior to the U13 age group we don't feel strongly that young players benefit from this and as such we place less emphasis on winning games but on broad based GROWTH & DEVELOPMENT during those critical formative years. In addition, we may have multiple "developing" teams in an age group/gender in which case we would name that team "BLUE II" with little to no difference between the two developing teams. In the end, as a club, we don't place high value on the name of a players team, or where they play. What we do place significant value in is HOW they play and THAT they play.

In addition, we hope that parents can put less value on the "perception" of a roster their player is on and more value on their players "performance". As an organization we work hard to help players by placing them in situations that will maximize their chances for successful growth & development. A player may be technically strong but weaker in the areas of tactical understanding or psychosocially within the team dynamic. This is an example of why a player could start out on a BLUE roster but can grow into a spot with a GOLD team over the course of the year. So please be patient and allow players the time to become who they want to become.
